Whether...

  • Your child is struggling with sleep and it is affecting their everyday life and mood so you are considering the idea of sleep training.

  • You know your child needs better quality sleep and more of it, but you are so confused by all the information and opinions on the internet.

  • You are exhausted and emotionally spent. Possibly even concerned about your own health due to sleep deprivation. You want...need...to improve sleep for your own sake!

  • You would like more predictability with your days so that you can plan and make time for things like self care and date nights but your child's sleep does not allow for this.

  • You are ready to begin improving sleep for your child and want to save time and energy with the sleep training process.

You are in the right place and I'm going to tell you exactly how the Stork Sleep Academy for Infants & Toddlers will give you the tools, inspiration, and unparalleled support on your journey to achieving quality sleep for your entire family.

  • Implemented your customized sleep plan with troubleshooting where needed with the guidance of the Stork Community for this cohort and me, an expert on child sleep!

What you learn in this module will be used in our week one live training as we go over Module 2 and create your Sleep Plan! It will be super important that you go through this module to prep for our first session together.

MODULE 2

CHOOSING YOUR RESPONSE & CREATING STRATEGIES FOR ALL THE PLUSES

In the first week's live training, we are going to dive into the everything you need to know to get started. Information that can often make or break the sleep training process. Then? Together, we will create your Sleep Plan! > Learn about the main responses or sleep training methods available to you that are effective within a two-week time frame and what to consider when choosing one. > Reflect on whether or not anything else is hindering your baby's sleep that needs to be considered in your Sleep Plan. > Create strategies for lengthening naps, handling night feedings, and anything else that might be specific to your baby's situation. The weekend following this training, October 28th, will be when you implement your Sleep Plan and begin the sleep training process.

MODULE 3

Parent of 18MO Girl

"Second to none!! Your communication, patience, knowledge and great energy made this process much easier to transition to."

Parent of 6MO Boy

"Megan, you are a baby whisperer! I was at my wit's end and I could tell that he needed some more sleep, what we were doing wasn't working but I didn't know where to start. It was refreshing to talk with someone who understood what we were going thru and also didn't feel judged that we let Roman sleep with us. Your kindness and direction really helped this family get on the right track!"

Parent of 18MO Boy

"Our experience was fantastic. The instruction was clear and easy to follow, the education I got on babys sleep patterns was so helpful, the sleep plan sent to us was a great reference for a tired Mom (and busy working Dad.) It was hard to listen to them cry as I knew it would be, but because we had a professional walking us through it I felt confident and reassured in what we were doing, and that made a huge difference."

Parent of 7MO Twins

I personally cannot wait to guide you over these three weeks!

Sleep is such a vital part of living yet so many of us treat it as if it is a luxury. You, my dear, deserve some better nights. They are on the horizon!

I have experienced first hand what sleep deprivation can do to an individual and I've seen the positive impact that sleep training can have on the entire family.

I cannot wait to share my passion of sleep with you and your baby.

If you are a parent of a child six to eighteen months old who is still sleeping in their crib...aka not in a big kid bed...and your child is struggling hard to get those zzz's, I hope that you choose to take this leap of faith in me like so many people have before.

Should you choose to join me in the next cohort, I have no doubt that if you are really looking to make a change, that our time together will be life changing!

I look forward to meeting you personally inside the Stork Sleep Academy for Infants & Toddlers.

  • WHO IS THE STORK SLEEP ACADEMY FOR?
This program is for parents with infants and toddlers between six and eighteen months of age who sleep in a crib OR will be transferred to a crib or other safe infant sleep space during the process AND are struggling with sleep. Experiencing early risings, short or no naps, difficulty with the onset of sleep, bedtime struggles, frequent night wakings, etc. If these speak to you, then this is the program for you: Your child is 6-18 months of age. You desire to have your baby sleeping in their own safe sleep space and agree to follow the AAP safe sleep guidelines. You are able to commit to the three week-program which includes creating and implementing a Sleep Plan. You have a solid two weeks where you can focus on your baby's sleep. Aka, your child isn't experiencing a big change like a move, new sibling, etc. You are not going on vacation, staying out late, skipping naps, etc. If your child attends daycare, I consider this as part of the solid two weeks as this is your child's norm. Regardless if you currently are or not, you do not wish to bed share. If doing so now, it is out of desperation as you just need sleep and don't know what else to do. Your child is struggling with sleep and it is affecting their every day life and mood. You know your child needs better quality sleep and more of it, but you are so confused by all the information and opinions on the internet. You are exhausted and emotionally spent. Possibly even concerned about your own health due to sleep deprivation. You want...need...to improve sleep for your own sake! You would like more predictability with your days so that you can plan and and make time for things like self care and date nights but your child's sleep does not allow for this. You are ready to begin improving sleep for your child with a quick and effective process in order to save time, energy, and tears. You understand that expecting your child to not cry during the process is unrealistic as we are most likely dealing with a child who is overtired. Mix overtired with change, and we get tears. You either want to drop night feedings, keep night feedings, or are unsure. It doesn't matter! We can improve sleep regardless of your preference. If you need help with a child older than 18 months, head on over to www.absleep.com/enroll for the A-B-Sleep Academy which is a similar program but for preschoolers. It is being hosted by my dear friend and fellow sleep consultant, Lindsay Wye-Palmer of A-B-Sleep. Our programs will be starting on the same day and providing a similar structure with material focused on separate age groups!
  • I WORK. IS IT POSSIBLE TO STILL DO THIS PROGRAM?
Absolutely! Working parents are often the ones who need my services the most. As long as you can commit to viewing the content provided and the process, you will be good to go. All trainings will be recorded and uploaded to the Stork Hub. If I find that people are never able to make the scheduled Office Hours, I will consider adjusting the time(s)!
  • WHAT IS THE TIMELINE FOR THE STORK SLEEP ACADEMY FOR INFANTS AND TODDLERS GROUP PROGRAM?
Released One Week Prior to Our First Live Training as Self Study Module 1 Pre-Recorded Training First Week's Live Training Module 2 Live Training, You will create your Sleep Plan during this session and then begin implementing it the weekend following the live training. Second Week's Live Training Module 3 Live Training Third Week's Live Training Module 4 Live Training Office Hours Office hours will occur twice a week on the same days and at the same times for four consecutive weeks. All trainings and office hours will be recorded and uploaded into the Stork Hub within that same day for those who could not attend.
  • DO I HAVE TO ATTEND THE TRAININGS LIVE?
All trainings with the exception of Module 1 and office hours will be held on Zoom. Attendance while live is highly encouraged for the first live training as we will be creating your Sleep Plan, a big component to this program, together. While it is also encouraged for the remaining trainings live, it is not as pertinent. Attending the live trainings means you have the opportunity to ask questions, raise concerns and feel like part of the community. However, I understand that not everyone will be able to accommodate this with their schedule. All trainings will be recorded and posted in the Stork Sleep Academy Hub area that same day for anyone who cannot attend live to watch.
  • HOW DO THE OFFICE HOURS WORK?
Think of Office Hours like a college professor's Office Hours where they hang out in their office and you can pop in at anytime within the designated time slots. I'll be doing that but my office will be on Zoom. Aka, you do not need to call in at the start of the Office Hour in order to participate. You can join anytime during the time slots provided. I'll be hanging out on Zoom for the entire hour regardless if anyone calls in or not. Office hours are optional for if you have questions or concerns along the way. They will be recorded and uploaded to the Stork Sleep Academy Hub.
  • DOES IT INCLUDE ONE-ON-ONE SUPPORT?
This program is a group coaching program which means everything is in a group setting. You will have access to live and recorded trainings along with our Stork Community. While it includes all the same elements for success, it does not include the one-on-one support. However, you still get access to me through the live weekly trainings, twice weekly office hours, and via the Stork Community in the Stork Sleep Academy Hub. However, if you feel along the way you would like to add on one-on-one support, you will have the option to do so. Daily Support is $127 per week. It includes seven consecutive days of daily text support. This allows you the opportunity to text me directly with questions or concerns in real time, me to provide you with suggestions based on what you log in Daily Connect, and anything else. I provide text support on weekdays between 10AM and 6PM EST and weekends as I am available. While I typically respond sooner, I respond within three business hours.
  • HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
As of October 19th, you have the option to make a one-time payment of $197 or two weekly payments of $127. Because this is a beta program, this is the lowest price that will ever be offered. This price could change by the time the next date is determined.
  • IS THERE A REFUND IF THIS DOESN'T WORK?
No. This is a behavioral perspective on sleep. Just like with a personal trainer or nutritionist your success is never guaranteed, the same goes for sleep training. The results you get depend on your commitment to the process, your child's personality, any medical issues potentially hindering sleep, etc. If you show up to create a solid Sleep Plan and take advantage of the resources and support provided, this program works. It’s as simple as that. The live trainings will educate you on what you need to consider in your Sleep Plan in order to start the sleep training process off strong. The office hours and Stork Community will be there for support so that you know when to be consistent and when to be flexible. If you’re struggling with seeing progress, it’s crucial that you attend sessions and office hours so that we can work out the kinks together. Support is one of the major key factors to successful sleep training and often one missing for those who do not see success with the process. I am confident that if you are ready to help your baby get some quality zzz's and you participate and do the work, you will see progress. If you have any concerns about the process, check with your pediatrician for clarity on what your child is and is not capable of doing given their age and individual needs. If your child snores or mouth breaths when sleeping, I encourage you to seek consult from a pediatrician, ENT, or sleep specialist to rule out any underlying medical issues. In very unique situations that I believe to be justified, I will consider a refund or prorated refund. Or if you answer questions in the intake form (initial homework) in a way that I believe would mean this program is not a good fit for your parenting style and/or situation. If this happens, we will schedule a time to chat to figure out if this is truly the case or not.
  • WHEN IS A GOOD TIME TO SLEEP TRAIN?
Official "sleep training" is generally a good option when your child is sixteen weeks adjusted age or older. However, if you have an infant under this age, check out my FAQs on the newborn page. Choose a two-week time frame when you will be able to be flexible for your child while improving sleep. This means that you plan to stay at the house to work on naps when needed, won't be distracted by guests or other projects, and won't be vacationing. Basically a time when you don't have a busy schedule.
  • DOES THIS MEAN I WILL BE GLUED TO THE HOUSE FOREVER?
No. Once you sleep train, you will know your child's biological schedule and can make plans to get out of the house and live a normal life around naps and bedtime. However, you will want to continue to preserve nap times and bedtime to help your child continue to be a happy sleeper.
  • DOES THIS MEAN I CAN GET MY CHILD SLEEPING THROUGH THE NIGHT?
Possibly. This really depends on how you define "sleeping through the night". It is important to note that EVERYONE wakes a few times at night due to the nature of sleep. If you mean "STTN" as in your child isn't needing assistance to fall back asleep for the duration of bedtime to wake time, then yes. That is if you are willing to commit to the process, your child is developmentally ready, and your child has no underlying medical issues.
  • DOES THIS MEAN I HAVE TO GET RID OF ALL NIGHT FEEDINGS?
No. You can teach your child to sleep well while still keeping night feedings. You and I will discuss what option would be best for you and your child. We will take into consideration what your pediatrician and any other professionals suggest is best for your child. Most children will naturally wean from night feedings on their own once they are falling asleep independently. However, if your child is older than one year of age, we will want to drop all night feedings and encourage calorie intake during the day. If your child currently has night feedings and you are debating whether or not to drop them, I highly suggest speaking to your pediatrician to make sure this is the right option for your child's growth and development. If you are breastfeeding and have a long term goal to do so, discuss this with your pediatrician and IBCLC. We can all work together to bring about healthy sleep while also preserving your milk supply.
  • WHEN CAN I EXPECT NIGHT FEEDINGS TO NATURALLY DISAPPEAR?
I generally see night feedings drop naturally between six and night months adjusted age for children who are able to independently fall asleep and transition between sleep cycles with the occasional outlier. However, it is important to note that meals and social interactions that occur regularly contribute to the strengthening of circadian rhythms. Hence, some children wake up more fully between sleep cycles when they expect a social interaction or food than a child who does not experience or expect this repetitively. For some families who have received the green light from their child's doctor to drop night feedings and wish to get rid of the night feedings, intentional action steps are sometimes needed in order to drop unnecessary night feedings.
  • DOES THIS MEAN I CAN GET MY CHILD ON A SCHEDULE?
Yes, if your child is older than six months adjusted age, you are willing to commit to the process, and your child has no underlying medical issues. For children sixteen months adjusted age and older, the circadian rhythm starts to mature and biological times become more prevalent. A schedule will start to develop around this time and become more solidified around six months of age.
  • DOES THIS MEAN I HAVE TO LEAVE MY CHILD TO CRY?
This will depend on the type of response and involvement you choose and your child's personality. During our consultation, we will discuss different options. However, no matter which option you choose, crying to some extent at first is expected as this is change for your child. And when you combine change with an overtired child? Tears are to be expected at some level. The key to sleep training, no matter which method you choose, is to be consistent so that your child can adjust as quickly as possible by picking up on the new pattern. Although crying might occur, it is not long-term.
  • WILL I GET TO KEEP SLEEPING WITH MY CHILD?
If working with me, no. My focus is on families who desire to have their child sleeping in their own safe sleep space. However, this does not remove the possibility of room sharing if that fits int your parenting philosophy and/or current life circumstances. If sleeping in the same bed as your child is something you wish to continue to do, I am not the sleep consultant for you. I am obligated as a Certified Child Sleep Consultant through the Family Sleep Institute to educate and encourage families to follow the AAP's safe sleep guidelines. HOWEVER, I would be happy to refer you to another sleep consultant who does focus on families who wish to bed share. Please note that co-sleeping can mean several things. Co-sleeping but in a separate sleeping space (also known as room-sharing) is recommended for children six months and younger. However, bed-sharing is advised agains as it highly increases the risk of SIDS and preventable deaths. If you decide to work with me, you will be required to sign an agreement that includes a statement that you agree to follow the AAP safe sleep guidelines.
  • WHAT ARE THE MAIN REASONS THAT SLEEP TRAINING DOESN'T WORK?
Inconsistency. Overstimulation or distraction from parents being too involved with the sleep process. A busy schedule that doesn't preserve naps and bedtime. Napping on the go. Underlying medical issues, which is why I suggest you check with your pediatrician prior to starting sleep training.
  • THE MOST COMMON MYTHS OR MISCONCEPTIONS I HEAR ABOUT SLEEP TRAINING.
Myth 1: Sleep training means no more night feedings. Myth 2: Sleep training means cry it out. Myth 3: Sleep training will ruin your parent-child relationship. Myth 4: Sleep training will damage your child. Myth 5: Exhaustion is just part of parenting within those first few months and years and you just have to accept it. Myth 6: Sleep training is selfish. Myth 7: "My baby is more difficult than others and won't be able to do it." Myth 8: "My baby doesn't need as much sleep as most babies." Myth 9: Your baby will start sleeping through the night when they are ready. Just be patient. Myth 10: Sleep training means choosing a sleep training method.
